What this credential is — and is not

A SUPERMASSIVE Artist Credential is a private professional credential. It records that we verified your identity and that you conduct business under the working name shown.

It is not a government identification document. It is not a driver licence, state ID, passport, or any government-issued credential. It does not prove age, confer legal identity, or grant authority of any kind. No venue, agency, organisation, or authority is obliged to accept it, and we cannot guarantee that any will.

What we verify

Depending on the level you select, we confirm some or all of the following:

Verified. Your government photo ID is checked for authenticity and matched against a live image of you.
Notarized. The above, plus a sworn Affidavit of Name Usage executed before a notary public and retained on file.
Registered. The above, plus preparation and submission of a fictitious name (DBA) registration with the relevant state authority on your instruction.

We verify identity and stated name usage. We do not verify your skills, credits, employment, representation, or professional standing, and the credential makes no representation about them.

Your identity documents

Identity documents are processed for the sole purpose of verifying you. Where automated verification is used, documents are handled by our verification provider and we do not retain copies of the document images ourselves.

Your date of birth and street address are never published. Our public verification page shows only your working name, discipline, credential status, validity dates, member number, and — where you have agreed — your legal name, which is the purpose of the credential.

You may request deletion of your records at any time by writing to us. Deleting your records revokes your credential and removes your verification listing.

Public verification listing

An active credential is listed at /verify and can be looked up by member number. Pages showing a member’s details are excluded from search engine indexing. You may opt out of displaying your legal name, though doing so reduces what the credential can evidence.

Validity, renewal and revocation

Credentials are valid for twelve months from issue and may be renewed. We may revoke a credential, without refund, if we determine that information you supplied was false, that the credential has been altered or misrepresented, or that it is being presented as a government document.

Payment and refunds

Nothing is charged until your identity is verified and your credential approved. If we are unable to verify you, you are not charged. Once a physical card has been produced and dispatched, or a state filing submitted on your behalf, those elements are non-refundable because the cost has been incurred.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

present the credential as government-issued identification;
use it to assert age, legal identity, or official authority;
alter, reproduce, or transfer it to another person;
supply false information in your application.

Limitation of liability

The service is provided as-is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it. We are not liable for any third party’s decision to accept or refuse the credential.
